State change and alchemy to usher
the past and future into
perfect presence
PSMADE’s Eston capsule collection by Michael Siplin takes the richness of the elements and drives them toward a particular luminosity and character that grafts memory into presence, with a nod to the future. Each piece is an objet de art, and embodies flexibility: seats become tables become plinths, delivering exceptional character. Between re-thought familiar forms in new fabrications and proprietary hand-welded finishes, each piece is equally recollection and invocation.
THE COLLECTION
PAN>PAX BENCH
seat | bench | end of bed | spare | minimal | flexible spaces
Ah, peace like a river ran through the city
Long past the midnight curfew we sat starry-eyed
Ahoh, ahoh, we were satisfied
- Paul Simon
The form is traditional Chinese, but you’ll see its echo across the Asian continent: adopted, re-adopted, and transmuted through time. Its perfectly curved seat, historically in wood, is reincarnated into polished aluminum, with sturdy legs that draw us into the proverbial root system featuring the hand-welded raindrops finish.
The patina is custom - can be black or brass. Available as a single seat, and as a double seat bench.
Dimensions:
13 1/2” deep x 13 1/2” wide x 18” high
MOON TABLE
side table | bedside | spare seat | minimal | flexible spaces | objet | inside/outside
Leapin’ and hoppin’ on a Moonshadow
Cat Stevens, Moonshadow
The origin of this piece is more late 70’s, with the exceptional warmth of wood and brass replacing the era’s namesake synthetics. Leaping from earth, and taking a moonshot, we are mesmerized by the heavily wax grain of the fallen old-growth walnut, ultimately luminous with a dimension revealing shades of landscape. The entire piece is flush and screwless, held in place with two brass slides whose crescent offers the namesake. Perfect fit.
14 1/4” deep x 17 1/2” wide x 16 “ high
RAINDROPS DRUM
side table | bedside | spare seat | minimal | flexible spaces | objet | inside/outside
I can't stand the rain
Against my window, bringing back sweet memories
- Ann Peebles
Inspired by our Thai antique frog drum, this piece is as much history as it is future - maintaining its history in both the sense of sound and structure. Almost appearing as a textile for softness, it beckons the feminine, while remaining balanced in its masculine, with the hand-welded raindrops finish.
An exceptional expression of metal recalling rain, it is a beautiful object for inside and outside, where its patina will surely become absolutely magical.

ALCHEMY OBJECTS
Spacial design | objects | sculpture | form
And the sun poured in like butterscotch
And stuck to all my senses
Joni Mitchell, Chelsea Morning
These are all about transforming wood into gold. Interpretations of minimalist finds, coupled with unusual angles, these shiny brass objets consider the relativity of form, angle, and intervention. Unexpected stewards who highlight first editions on a shelf, or as corner sculptures, they interrupt space in ways that recall the forms Serra, drawing attention and creating punctuation.
Tapping into lamp and sunlight, they refract along their unique finish. While they denote a particular masculinity, their shape and flexibility offer a particular kind of yin, and spatial transformation
X form: 1” deep x 10” x 13”
L form: 1 1/2” deep x 14” x 15 3/4”
HEDQUIST TABLE
vintage | table top | floor sculpture | objet
And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line
- Glen Campbell
Cattywampus turns, chunky additions, and the naturalist set against geometry: this piece nods to the irregular world of the 1960s where we were living for a while, and dare we say, seem to be approaching again.
The inspiration for this piece was found in the wood shop of Cecil Headquist, a Kansas wood and furniture artist. He worked independently for decades and was remarkably able to capture the zeitgeist from his rural home. Maintaining the chip carve of the original, with our proprietary shadow drops finish, this piece begs to be touched. Part sculpture and part object of use, it is the perfect tabletop anchor for spatial design.

About Michael Siplin
The interdisciplinary arts is in Michael Siplin’s DNA.
Born in Miami to Lillie and George Siplin, his early childhood was a front-row seat to the aesthetic life. When the family moved to Los Angeles, his mother, a pan-talented woman of rare and first achievements, succeeded a start as the general operator at Pacific Bell to become the first black woman to graduate from the Don Martin School of Broadcasting. She commenced her life’s work as a clinical therapist, publishing widely in major academic and mainstream publications. His father, mentored by Tony Curtis, became a director and then an entrepreneur.
Michael’s journey traverses the same extraordinary multi-facetedness as his parents. He first began as a fashion designer, drawing inspiration from the silhouettes at Joseph Magnin and Robinsons May he witnessed as a child accompanying Lillie. His taste for elegance and sartorial talents opened doors. First, he apprenticed for a Hollywood tailor, landing him squarely in the path to design. Shortly thereafter, he started working in the fashion business. He was able to cultivate a particular aesthetic and work mobility, and concluded 30 years of design work as a member of both the Motion Picture Costumers Union as well as the esteemed Costume Designers Guild.
In 1991, Michael met Philip Stites, who at the time was on the partner track at the legendary Therien & Co., Inc. Over the following 33 years, the two traversed work and travel through art history wisdom, and practical design practices that expanded the Philip Stites brand, and with Patricia Sims, launched PSMADE in 2021.
After over 30 years in garment design, styling, and costuming, Michael began to conceive of ideations that connected the historicity of the antiques and contemporary design that he was surrounded by in his personal life with the skillful and forward-thinking design praxis that he had built in his career. The result is Eston, the first capsule collection for PSMADE.
This collection was conceived by the artist through the vision, hands, and hearts of the PSMADE team.
From initial designs to sculptural fabrication from our in-house fabricator to the narratives that distill each object’s story, we are proud to bring these rare pieces from ideation into form for the discerning collector, designer, and decorator.
